The headline distance of the Sougliani Trail festival, now in its 11th year since 2015 (400+ finishers across all five distances every year), run on the Stratoniko Oros mountain range around Stavros and Ano Stavros - roughly 80-100km from Thessaloniki, Serres, Drama, Kavala and Kilkis. The 38.5km of single-track winds through old-growth beech, oak and centuries-old chestnut forest, past the 12m Kipouristra waterfalls, over the summits of Souglani (859m) and Profitis Ilias (665m), and through the traditional mountain village of Varvara before returning to the pedestrian street in Stavros, where the race starts and finishes. ITRA-certified and rated UTMB Index 50K, with valid finishers earning 3 ITRA points usable for races abroad. Open to athletes 18 and over, with a mandatory qualifying race completed in the last 5 years: a mountain race of at least 13km with at least 750m of positive elevation gain, finished within that race's own cutoff. The qualifying race, its date and the athlete's finish time must be declared on the registration form; applications without this are rejected. Entry by card, Masterpass or bank transfer to the club's Alpha Bank account (IBAN GR2101405850585002002007302) - bank transfers must be completed within 48 hours or the registration is voided, with proof emailed to f.o.s.stavrou@hotmail.gr. Athletes previously disqualified elsewhere for serious ethical violations may be refused entry, and each distance only runs if at least 60% of its planned capacity is filled. Cancellations get a full refund if requested by 28 February 2027 by email from the registered address.
