The big challenge of the event: the course climbs all the way to the summit of Kissavos at 1,978m, where the alpine landscape and the view towards the Aegean make a setting unlike anything else in Thessaly. Start and finish are at the central square of Agia, with the route running on forest paths through dense stands of fir, beech, oak and chestnut, past natural springs, picturesque mountain villages, village squares and small chapels. Roughly 16,900 hectares on the north-eastern side of Kissavos are designated an Aesthetic Forest, one of only 19 in Greece, and the area is included in the European Natura 2000 network as a site of outstanding natural beauty. The event is an ITRA member organisation and the 2027 poster lists the race under the UTMB Index 50K category. The full official announcement, with route details and registration, is expected to be published shortly.
