An introductory but demanding trail race, 7.8km long, with 90% of the course on pure trail. Start and finish at the Nymfaia Tourist Pavilion, in the peri-urban forest of Nymfaia near Komotini. Circular route: Nymfaia Tourist Pavilion - 1.2km dirt road - 4.1km of trail - 200m dirt road, with the aid station at 5.5km - return after 1.7km of mountain trail, with the last 300m on asphalt to the finish at the Tourist Pavilion. Open to runners aged 18 and over; runners aged 16 and over may take part with a signed declaration from their guardian. One aid station at 5.5km with water, cola-type soft drink and fruit. Runners must carry their own flask or cup - the race follows a zero-waste policy and single-use plastic cups will be kept to a minimum at the stations. Dropping any litter on the course (gel wrappers, bar packaging etc.) carries a time penalty and/or disqualification. Provisions: participation gift, aid station support, recovery food at the finish and a commemorative finisher's medal. Awards take place at the start/finish area after the races: cups for the top 3 men and top 3 women overall, plus age categories 18-34, 35-49 and 50+ (men/women). The top 3 overall are excluded from the age categories; an age category is awarded only if at least 3 athletes take part in it, otherwise it merges with the previous one. The best-performing team in the 8km race is also awarded. First aid by the Hellenic Red Cross, Komotini branch. Bag storage available at the start. NOTE: the start is reached from Komotini through the Nymfaia Forest (Alsos Nymfaias) and has nothing to do with the village of Nymfaia - follow the asphalt road climbing from Komotini up to Alsos Nymfaias.
