Important Information
The 6th Kastraki Trail is dedicated to the memory of the teacher and benefactor Theodoros Theodoridis, who gave the town of Grevena its grove.
The Health Runners of Grevena co-organise the event with the Regional Unit of Grevena and the Municipality of Grevena, under the auspices of EOSLMA-Y. Alongside the races, the Prevention Centre for Addictions and Promotion of Psychosocial Health of the Regional Unit of Grevena, ORIZONTES, holds awareness activities.
Start and finish are at the Open-Air Theatre of Grevena in Theodoridis Grove.
The 17km route runs on the beautiful, safe paths of the grove and offers experienced runners fast trails in nature; 4 water stations are set up along the course.
Open to club and independent athletes aged 18 and over, who must have been recently examined by a doctor and be physically fit.
Limited to 120 runners on a first-come, first-served basis.
Awards: cups for the first 3 men and first 3 women overall, plus 100 euro gift vouchers from the main sponsor for the first man and first woman.
Age categories are Men 18-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+, and Women 18-39, 40-54 and 55+, with cups for the first 3 men and first 3 women in each category and 50 euro gift vouchers for the first man and first woman of each age category; the 3 overall winners are excluded from the age-category prizes.
Every finisher receives an embossed commemorative finisher medal.
Sponsor gifts are distributed to competitors by raffle and the award ceremonies take place at the KASTRAKI open-air theatre after the races finish.
Bib and race material pickup is at the Secretariat in the start area from 08:15 to 09:45; bring the confirmation email showing your bib number together with your ID card, passport or driving licence.
Collection by a third party requires a photocopy of the runner's ID and a copy of the email, otherwise the bib is not released.
Clothing and equipment can be handed in at the Secretariat, but no valuables, phones or items of value.
The participation package includes the embossed commemorative finisher medal, a commemorative athlete gift, the bib, electronic timing with an individual CHIP, on-course feeding, post-race recovery products, medical services and free photographic coverage of the whole event.
Athlete passage checkpoints operate on the route and any runner without an electronic reading at both start and finish is disqualified.
After the official cut-off, runners who have not finished must leave the course or continue at their own risk.
A sweeper runner follows the field, the Grevena Rescue Team is stationed at various points and a doctor provides first aid; medical cover is provided by the event Health Service with the Chief Doctor, emergency services and first-aid staff.
Runners take part at their own absolute personal responsibility, having had the necessary medical and cardiological checks, and no medical certificates will be requested.
Bibs must be pinned at all four corners and be fully visible, and are personal and non-transferable without prior approval of the Organising Committee.
After finishing, keep walking towards the exit to collect your medal and bottled water.
Objections about a competitor's compliance that affects the placing of the first six men or women may be submitted during the race and up to 30 minutes after the announcement of the first six winners.
Registration cancellation requests are not accepted and entry fees are not refunded; if the 6th Kastraki Trail itself is cancelled, entrants are refunded, and the races may be cancelled or postponed due to an emergency or by decision of the organisers.
Group entries for teams of 7 or more are submitted with the EXCEL form at https://bit.ly/kastrakigroup26, emailed to dromeisgrevenon@gmail.com with proof of deposit to Piraeus Bank IBAN GR4501722400005240075428251 and the team name as the comment; bank charges are paid by the depositor, and the 7-person threshold counts across all races combined.
