Important Information
Historic race first held in 1950 and run continuously until 2002 by Panathinaikos A.O. and the Municipality of Paiania; the Municipality revived it in 2015 and radically redesigned it from 2023.
The event is held under the auspices of the Municipality of Paiania and is dedicated to the memory of Giannis Skiadas, the Balkan gold medallist in athletics from Paiania, Panathinaikos athlete and distinguished sports journalist.
Start and finish: Vasileos Konstantinou Square, the central square of Paiania.
Start times are indicative; the final detailed timetable will be announced on the Municipality's website (www.paiania.gov.gr) once registrations close.
Open to junior high school and high school students born from 2009 to 2014.
Start and finish at Vasileos Konstantinou Square.
Electronic RFID timing; the classification is based on gun time, with each participant's net time also shown in the results.
All participants receive a commemorative medal and a technical t-shirt.
Awards are given by gender (boys/girls), separately for junior high schools and high schools, with a cup for the first 3 of the general category.
Services: commemorative medal, technical t-shirt, electronic timing, medical coverage, water stations, supervision of personal belongings and photographic coverage.
Team awards: a special prize for the 3 most populous athletic teams (5,100m) and the 3 most populous school teams.
Grand school participation prize: the primary school of the Municipality of Paiania with the most organised entries overall wins a free school excursion, sponsored by the Municipality of Paiania.
Registration is made exclusively online through RaceID; the registration system closes definitively on Thursday 15 October 2026 and there will be no race-day registration unless the Organising Committee decides otherwise.
Student entries are also distributed in printed form to the Municipality's schools, with the option of digital submission by parents/guardians through a special form.
A cardiological and preventive medical check-up is compulsory under Greek sports legislation (L.1599/1986 and the Sports Law).
The organisers do not ask for medical certificates: all runners take part under their own civil and criminal responsibility, and the entry form automatically constitutes a solemn declaration that the participant has recently had a full medical/cardiological examination and has a doctor's approval for intense physical activity.
Athletes registered with a SEGAS club must hold a valid Athlete Health Card.
For minors under 18 the application must be submitted by the person exercising parental care, which counts as written consent and full assumption of responsibility.
Medical coverage: a first-aid station with a doctor, volunteer rescuers and an ambulance at the start/finish area.
The doctor or authorised staff may order a participant to stop and that instruction must be obeyed.
A supervised clothing/belongings area operates near the start; the organisers accept no liability for valuables, money or jewellery.
The event includes photo and video coverage that will be posted online for participants to download free of charge; entering the race implies consent to the use and sharing of that material for the event's communication purposes.
The Organising Committee may modify the courses, change the start times or postpone/cancel the race in case of extreme weather, decisions of state authorities or other force majeure.
Volunteers are welcome and can apply by email at politismos-athlitismos@peania.gov.gr; every volunteer receives the official t-shirt and a commemorative diploma.
