Important Information
16th edition - the oldest 100-mile trail race in Greece and the third-oldest in Europe (organized since 2010; named Rodopi Ultra Trail until 2012, then Rodopi Advendurun 100 Miles from 2013-2019).
A self-sufficient 'advendure' (adventure + endurance) ultra in the tradition of iconic US 100-milers like Western States, Hardrock and HURT, built around minimal external support and a strong volunteer spirit - the only ultra that finishes on an uphill.
Circular route through the remote Rodopi Mountain Range National Park (bear, wolf, deer and roe deer habitat), starting and finishing at the Erymanthos Forest Village, Haidou; roughly 67% trail, 32% forest road and 1% asphalt, passing through Vathyrema, Prasinada, Bardakova, Oxia, Zarkadia, Kaikouli, the Farasino and Krousovo streams, Zagradenia, Anterorahi, Alikioi, the Mega Rema (Arkoudorema) and the shore of the Platanovrysi reservoir before returning via Zarkadia, Oxia and Silli to Prasinada and the finish.
Six aid stations (Prasinada-I km29, Zarkadia-I km57, Fraktos km89, Anterorahi km111, Zarkadia-II km138, Prasinada-II km152) and 25 checkpoints in total; three intermediate cutoffs at Zarkadia-I (12h), Fraktos (21.5h) and Zarkadia-II (33h).
Minimum age 20; entry requires having finished an 80km+ (50-mile) trail race in 2024, 2025 or 2026.
Categories: Men 20-49, Veteran Men 60+, Women 20-49, Veteran Women 50+.
Mandatory gear includes a waterproof jacket, survival blanket, headlamp with spare batteries plus a backup light, phone, hydration system, fire starter, food, medical kit, whistle, cup, leggings and gloves.
No pacers; outside support is allowed only at three of the six stations (Zarkadia, Prasinada, Fraktos), the only ones with road access.
Two drop bags (max 5kg/50L each) are shuttled to three points on the course.
Runners should be prepared to spend up to two nights alone in the wild and to encounter wildlife (bears, wolves) and severe mountain weather (cold, rain, snow); no medical certificate is required, only a signed self-declaration of fitness.
Event programme: Thursday Oct 15 - accreditation/bib pickup and drop-bag assembly 08:00-23:00, pre-race meal 12:00-22:00, technical meeting for non-Greek runners 20:00-20:30; Friday Oct 16 00:00 - race start; Saturday Oct 17 - winner's finish expected 02:30-05:00, finishers through 22:00 cutoff; Sunday Oct 18 09:00-10:00 - awards ceremony and event close.
