Important Information
Part of the 1st International Winter Mountain Running Festival on Mount Hymettus's eastern slopes (18-20 December 2026), co-organized with the Municipality of Paiania and the Hymettus Protection and Development Association (ΣΠΑΥ).
Official start/finish: Central Zoodochos Pigi Square, Paiania.
Confirmed start time 23:00 (the exact race day within the 18-20 Dec window has not yet been finalized).
Loop course, 103+ km, D+5,500m, 26.5-hour overall cutoff.
Entry requires age 18+ and a valid finish, between 1 Jan 2024 and registration close, in a mountain race of 40km+ with D+2,200m+ and a time no more than double that race's winner's time (qualifying race, date and result link must be declared; ITRA profile link if available); individual entries only.
A medical certificate (cardiologist or GP, issued within the last 6 months) is mandatory before a bib is issued.
The organizer supplies each runner a GPS tracker (returned after the race, worn visibly throughout); the top 20 finishers plus the top 3 men and top 3 women must submit their own GPS log within 2 hours of finishing to validate results.
Mandatory gear: offline GPX loaded on watch or phone, 1L+ water capacity, two powerful headlamps with spare batteries/power bank, thermal long-sleeve top, taped-seam waterproof/windproof jacket with hood, gloves, survival blanket, whistle, a 100x6cm elastic bandage, and a charged phone with the race's emergency number saved; poles allowed; gear is checked before bib pickup, with random checks during the race.
One central drop-bag station at CP5 (Argyroupoli firewatch, km 47).
Checkpoints: CP1 Agios Ioannis 10km (D+600), CP2 Kaisariani firewatch ~20.5km (D+1,400, cut-off point), CP3 Ymittos Antennas 28km (D+2,050), CP4 Michailidis/ridge ~38.8km (D+2,800), CP5 Argyroupoli firewatch ~47km (D+3,400, cut-off + drop bag), CP6 Glyfada ~60.4km (D+3,850), CP7 Voula/Rampa 72.3km (D+4,350), CP8 Vellas/Koropi 84.67km (D+4,800, cut-off), CP9 Ymittos Antennas 92.6km (D+5,400), finish in Paiania; exact station hours not yet published.
Semi-autonomous race: carry enough food/water between stations, bring a reusable cup (no disposable cups provided); outside assistance only at designated points.
Course-cutting, outside transport or skipping a checkpoint means disqualification; unintentional deviation incurs a 1-3 hour time penalty; protests must be filed within 24 hours of finishing.
DNF: hand the bib to the sweep team or nearest station staff, or make your own way to the nearest checkpoint/Paiania and notify organizers immediately.
NSAIDs (e.g.
ibuprofen) are banned during the race; organizers provide no medication.
Awards: finisher medal for valid finishes within cutoff; top 3 men and top 3 women overall; age categories 18-29 through 70+ (men and women) need at least 6 entrants to be awarded, otherwise only the category's top man/woman is recognized; no double podium (overall + age group); physical presence required at the ceremony (time/venue TBA).
