A village road race organized by the Parish of Agios Nikolaos in Anatoliko (Delta Municipality) as part of the feast of Agios Fanourios, run in his honor as a votive race. Open to all ages at participants' own risk; elementary-school-age children and younger must run with an accompanying adult. The start is signaled by the tolling of the church bell. Three water stations along the course, plus a treat of fanouropita (traditional cake). Each finisher receives a piece of the mosaic icon of Agios Fanourios to place in a numbered spot on a dedicated installation. The first finisher lights the Saint's candle and the last finisher extinguishes it, closing the event. Awards for the top 3 men and women overall in both the 6K and 12K, with a memento for all participants. Timing by Timing for Sports (www.timing4s.com).
