Alonia is a village in the Pieria regional unit, in the municipality of Pydna-Kolindrou. The village's central church is dedicated to Saint Panteleimon and celebrates its feast day on July 27. The event's purpose is for participants to enjoy the area's natural beauty along the course and experience the village's Pontic hospitality, as the race is a sporting celebration for the village and its residents.
