Point-to-point race on public roads, held as part of the events honouring the 1821 hero Emmanouil Pappas. Start at Eleftherias Square in Serres, finish in the community of Emmanouil Pappas. Route: Eleftherias Square Serres - Maragoudaki - Al. Panagouli - Orfeos - Ethnikis Antistaseos - D. Marouli - Agios Ioannis - Eptamyloi - service road of the Serres-Drama national road - Neo Souli - Agio Pnevma - Emmanouil Pappas. Altitudes along the way: Serres 60m, Neo Souli 156m, Agio Pnevma 314m, Emmanouil Pappas 252m. Note: the announcement is inconsistent on eligibility - paragraph 2 states the 17km is for men and women born in 2008 or earlier, while paragraph 5 states born in 2006 or earlier. There is no online registration: entries for the 17km are taken on race morning at Eleftherias Square in Serres. Runners must be in the start area 15 minutes before the start, at 10:30; elite athletes are placed on the front row by the organisers. Bags with clothes and personal items must be handed in at least 30 minutes before the start (by 10:15) and only at the bus in the start area; they are returned by volunteers immediately after the finish on presentation of the race bib. Runners warm up individually inside Eleftherias Square. Runners travel to the start at their own responsibility; return to Serres after the finish is by Municipality buses. Bottled water at the medical stations in every village and at the finish. Timing is by handheld stopwatch. Commemorative medals for all finishers; diplomas and medals for the first three men and women of every category; cups for the winners of every category. Competitors run at their own risk and responsibility, having had the necessary medical and cardiological checks; no medical certificates will be requested, adults take part at their own responsibility and minors with their parents' consent, and minors should have been medically examined beforehand. The race is covered by a doctor, an EKAB ambulance and Hellenic Red Cross volunteers. Held under the 2020-2021 World Athletics and SEGAS rules; runners who are not validly registered or who have no race bib are not allowed to take part, and bibs are personal and non-transferable. Race bibs must be worn on the front of the racing kit, fastened with four safety pins.
