An amateur, non-competitive children's triathlon with no rankings and no official timing: 50m swim, 2km cycle and 1km run. Entry is a €10 donation to the Orizontas association. The participation pack includes an event t-shirt, a medal, a certificate of merit and commemorative gifts. Part of the 17th Yperkopeli, a charity sports day by the Orizontas volunteer association that raises funds for children and adults with cancer and their families (financial aid, accommodation in the association's six guesthouses in Athens, travel to and from treatment, and medical costs not covered by insurance) and promotes volunteering. It is a "race for life" where taking part matters more than winning. Held with the Municipality of Chania, the security forces and many volunteer groups. Equipment and bib pickup for Chania participants at the Orizontas offices, Manousogiannakidon 17: Wed 7/10 and Thu 8/10 09:00-14:30 & 18:00-20:00, and Fri 9/10 09:00-14:30. A pilafi party with souvlaki, beer, soft drinks and music follows on the beach. A virtual e-Yperkopeli, which can be done from anywhere in Greece or abroad, also runs 11-20 October.
