14th edition of the Ladies Run, the women-only race that started back in autumn 2012 and has become an institution on the Athenian Riviera. Women of every age and fitness level are welcome, so no excuses here. Start and finish at Astir Beach, Apollonos 40, Vouliagmeni. The course runs by the sea, through the Four Seasons Astir Palace and Astir Marina (not your usual 5K scenery, if you know what I mean). Electronic timing, with race timing and flow run by Nikos Polias, seven-time Greek marathon champion, and his team. Awards ceremony on the beach. The race office opens the day before the race (details from the organizer). Through the non-profit DESMOS, €5 from every registration goes to support vulnerable groups of women, and if you pay with a National Bank of Greece card the donation is tripled. Over 1,000 runners every year and it keeps selling out, so spots are limited and you'd better not leave it for the last minute. Every registration includes an exclusive QINETIKO T-shirt in fiery red and full insurance cover for runners and volunteers by ERGO. Medals by Valaes, inspired by the kotinos (the ancient olive wreath). After the finish: Arla Protein drinks and puddings plus water for hydration.
